Jaguar Journey Welcome Weekend
At Jaguar Journey Welcome Weekend, new first-year students will be introduced to campus life at UHV. The weekend is packed with activities that will help you acclimate to campus, acquire important information about services designed to help you succeed and help get acquainted with the City of Victoria. Jaguar Journey will be your best chance to meet other incoming students and learn what it means to be a Jaguar. Don’t miss it!
Jaguar Journey is held in Victoria the weekend before classes begin for the fall semester and is required for all first-year students. Incoming first-year students must register for Jaguar Journey. Registration will be available at ROAR Orientation sessions and during housing move-in.
Transfer student will have opportunities such as ROAR Orientation to engage in and learn about campus but they are also welcome to participate in Jaguar Journey. If transfer students are interested in participating, they should contact the Orientation Office to register.

Jaguar Journey: August 2025
Jaguar Journey Welcome Weekend is held in person. There is no online option for Jaguar Journey Welcome Weekend. Students who registered at ROAR First-Year Orientation, Overnight will be emailed participation instructions for Jaguar Journey in advance to their UHV email, in addition to them being provided during the housing move-in process. Students who did not register ahead of time, can register during move-in at the Jaguar Journey check-in table.

Thursday
You will meet your Orientation Leaders, as well as other incoming first-year students in your group and begin to create new relationships with your fellow classmates. You will also meet our university’s mascot, jaX the Jaguar. An overview of the weekend will be provided and you'll learn about how your group can be crowned Jaguar Journey Champions! Thursday will be a day you do not want to miss!
Friday
You will continue to build upon and create relationships with your classmates through different activities. This is a day that you’ll have the opportunity to ask your Orientation Leaders questions that will help you prepare for week one of class. You'll also be provided with a variety of tools needed to be successful academically and socially at UHV. There will be engaging presentations on campus technology, relationships, and personal wellness. Later that afternoon with your group, you will get to participate in a Campus Scavenger Hunt and get to know UHV better. Orientation Leaders, faculty, and staff members will be present to facilitate conversations around these topics.
Saturday
We wrap up Jaguar Journey with a variety of competitions between groups, as well as informational sessions on how to get involved and be successful at UHV. You will be introduced to vital campus tools such as JagSync, and get to meet student leaders from the Jaguar Activities Board, ESports, and Student Government Association. An annual tradition, Casino Night, will take place in the evening in which you will compete for fantastic prizes! To close the night, you will join your group for "Rep Your Group", a fun and exciting showcase of your groups ability to come together and display what makes your group Jaguarific!
