Late Arrival
Due to COVID-19, many students are unable to secure a U.S. visa or secure a flight to arrive on the campus before the date listed on their immigration document. If this is the case, students are eligible to request an extension to arrive late. If you are a student who plans to arrive later than the date listed on your I-20 or DS2019, you must receive prior approval from our International Programs to do so.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers will question your late arrival, and in certain instances, they may require you to have written permission from the institution to arrive late. In any case, your latest permissible arrival date is 5 days after the start date listed on your immigration document. If you are unable to arrive before the late arrival date, you will need to defer your enrollment to the next semester.
If you are granted permission from the International Programs, make sure you have our written permission along with your other immigration documents when you go through Customs. Do not plan to arrive late without notifying the International Programs.
