As other students arrived at the University of Houston-Victoria for the after-school high school robotics class, Wyatt Davidson was already working on new additions to his robot.

“I used to watch Battle Bots when I was growing up, and the robots always were so interesting to me,” the 18-year-old Victoria East High School senior said. “Now I’m getting the chance to build my own robot and learn more about what goes into making them work. It’s been a great experience.”

A University of Houston-Victoria College of Education & Health Professions faculty member and a visiting Fulbright Scholar will present research from recent projects during UHV’s Homecoming Week festivities, including research on knowledge evaluators in education and internet connectivity in rural areas.

The University of Houston-Victoria Latino Faculty & Staff Association invites the public to attend their next meeting to learn more about Victoria’s bicentennial events planned for 2024, as well as hear from a descendant of Don Martín de León and Doña Patricia de la Garza, who founded Victoria.

A University of Houston-Victoria graduate computer science class recently took some time to celebrate Holi, or the Festival of Colors, as part of an effort to share international culture with local students and help international students feel more at home in Victoria.

Daya Nand, an associate professor of computer science and cybersecurity, originally hailed from India, and many of the students in his graduate computer science class are from that region of the world as well.
