President’s Holiday Card Contest

Who May Enter
Any UHV student in good academic and judicial standing may submit artwork (limit one entry a student).
How to Enter
Entries will be accepted until 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019.
Some examples of acceptable artwork include general illustrations, winter scenes and campus photography. No words or copy should be included in final submissions with the exception of “UHV” or “University of Houston-Victoria.” The artwork may include the official UHV logo. The artwork also should not make references to specific religious holidays.
All submissions must include an entry form. Students also must submit their digital artwork electronically (see design specifications below).
The finished card size will be 7 inches wide by 5 inches tall (horizontal orientation) or 5 inches wide by 7 inches tall (vertical orientation).
Artwork should include a 0.25-inch bleed, so artwork should be sized at 7.25 by 5.25 at 300 ppi, either horizontal or vertical. Please keep critical art elements a minimum of 0.25 inches from the trim line.
All artwork must be created in CMYK.
Accepted formats are PDF, EPS, AI, TIF or JPEG (high quality, uncompressed only). We recommend using Dropbox.com or a large-file delivery service such as Hightail.com to send a link to your file. Both are free.
Digital artwork that does not meet the resolution and quality requirements will not be considered.
UHV will retain all reproduction rights to submitted artwork with credit given to the artist. UHV agrees not to sell any of the artwork or a reproduction.
Artists warrant that they are the sole proprietor of the artwork and agree to assign all copyright and other intellectual property rights in the artwork to UHV. Entries must be an original concept and constitute an original work, and must not infringe on the protected rights of other artists or violate any applicable copyright laws.
All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of judges selected by the Office of the President. Entries will be judged on the artwork’s creativity and artistic merit. The winner will be notified by email or phone.
The deadline for the 2019 contest is 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31.
