Our mission is to empower a diverse student body to be capable and competent adults in managing the multiple, competing life situations they will face. We will help them build skills to positively affect personal change and enhance quality of life. In doing so, we hope students will be able to take full advantage of their educational experience.
The Counseling Center aims to create a safe and supportive environment for all UHV students regardless of racial and ethnic identity, language, class, caste, sexual identity, gender identity, gender expression, national origin or citizenship, ability, body size, religious or spiritual identity. We aim to offer assistance and expertise to help student resolving difficulties arising from multicultural factors, immigration and emigration, or hate crimes.
Clinical services are available in English and Spanish.
The Counseling Center is dedicated to providing high quality health care. We maintain a confidentiality policy in which privacy is respected and better mental health care is promoted. All services are in accordance with Texas mental health law and APA ethical guidelines.
