Dr. Peggy Cloninger earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration from Georgia State University's J. Mack Robinson College of Business in 2000, specializing in strategic management, social issues in management, and international business. Prior to pursuing her interests in management, Dr. Cloninger worked as a research engineer at the Georgia Tech Research Institute for nine years. She earned her Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1982 and 1981, respectively.
Dr. Cloninger's research interests include international strategy, services, entrepreneurship, and business and society issues. She has published in several prestigious journals including Entrepreneurship, Theory and Practice, Journal of International Management, Thunderbird International Business Review, Personnel Review, and Journal of Global Marketing. She is also a reviewer for the Academy of Management as well as numerous other conferences and journals.
Dr. Cloninger's research awards include a Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Grant for her research that developed and employed what is believed to be the most advanced empirical measure of service content at that time. Her article "Encouraging Ethical Behavior: An Open Systems Approach to Modeling the Influences of Social Controls" was selected for publication in the Best Paper Volume International Association of Business and Society (I.A.B.S.).
Cloninger has been nominated for the Enron Teaching Excellence Award numerous times and was a finalist in 2004 and in 2006. She is a member of the Society of Advancement of Management (SAM).
