Internships
Internships are an integral component of the Graduate Publishing Program because they serve as a vital passage from student to professional standards in publishing. Students have the option of interning with an array of on-campus publications such as American Book Review, Chax Press, Cuneiform Press, Society for Cultural Exchange, symplokē, and Centro Victoria.
Students are required to complete two three-credit hour internships. Internships may be performed virtually or in person. Graduate students are advised to perform one internship with a publisher affiliated with UHV (listed above), and one independent publisher of choice. Your advisor will supervise and help you secure your internship. The best time of year to intern is during Summer Session 1 (June) and/or Summer Session 2 (July). Nineteen hours per week are required, but schedules may vary depending on the needs of the immediate supervisor and intern.
If you enroll in our online program, you have the option of interning online or partnering with an organization in your area.
