Admissions
- Approved University Admission
- 1-2 page essay stating the reasons for applying to the program and career goals
- Two letters of recommendation
- Writing sample
- Official GRE Data (Note: Student must have a Graduate Admissions Index of 980)
- *Formal Admission to the Publishing program
Students should submit official transcripts and GRE scores to the Office of Admissions. Program specific requirements such as essays, letter of recommendation, resumes, and/or writing samples should be submitted directly to Arts and Sciences.
Publishing Core – 15 semester hours
- PUBL 6310 Introduction to Publishing
- PUBL 6312 Publication Design
- PUBL 6314 Legal Environment of Publishing/Contracts
- PUBL 6316 Style & Editing
(Publishing Course Rotation: Fall: PUBL 6310, PUBL 6312, and PUBL 6305. Spring: PUBL 6314, PUBL 6316, PUBL 6318, and PUBL 6305. Summer: PUBL 6320, PUBL 6305).
Core – 6 semester hours
Two of the following three credit hour courses are also required for a total of 6 credit hours:
- MKTG 6352 Strategic Marketing Management
- PUBL 6320 Business of Books
Concentration – 9 semester hours
Students choose a concentration from among the following areas: Communication (COMM), English (ENGL) or History (HIST) and complete any three 3-hour courses with the same prefix for a total of 9 credit hours. Alternately, students may also develop their own interdisciplinary concentration by selecting any combination of courses in Humanities. See catalog for course specifications.
