Superintendent Certification

(Offered Completely Online)

The University of Houston – Victoria's Superintendent Certification Program is designed with working leaders in mind. If you’re a practicing administrator or possess your masters' degree and Principal Certificate, and want to earn your Texas Superintendent Certificate, our online format will allow you to fit your course work easily into your schedule and to complete your certification requirements without ever leaving home. You have the flexibility to complete your assignments within the prescribed time frame at any location you choose, thus eliminating travel expenses, fighting traffic, and taking time off from work for travel or classes. Request more information about the degree or program that aligns with your career goals.

UHV’s online classes follow the regular semester schedule, allowing you to begin the program anywhere in the rotation (spring, summer, or fall semester), without feeling out of step. You will build relationships among your colleagues, and will support and motivate each other as you complete your studies. In the process, you’ll build professional connections that will serve you throughout your career.

Your assignments and assessments will be posted at the beginning of the semester using Blackboard, the premier online course management system. In conjunction with Panopto and other software, Blackboard offers a variety of tools to maximize your learning by encouraging dialogue and interaction among you, your peers and your course facilitator. Program participants, course facilitators, and host superintendents communicate by e-mail, telephone and in group discussion boards, as well as through other emerging technologies.

Courses in the program are taught by active and/or former superintendents, and your practicum and internship are supervised by both a UHV faculty member and your cooperating superintendent, allowing you to learn from those who have mastered the role, and are willing to share their experience with you. If you’re diligent, you’ll be able to complete your studies for the certificate in one calendar year, and once you’ve passed the TExES #195 Superintendent Exam, as long as you have the administrative experience, you’ll have your certificate soon afterwards.
